Insight Prison Project | Insight Prison Project was founded in 1997 with one class for 14 male prisoners at San Quentin State Prison. Today, IPP offers unique and effective programs for thousands of men, women, and youth at 15 state prisons, three county jails, several reentry facilities, and one juvenile institution. Our core program is the Victim / Offender Education Group (VOEG). In addition to VOEG, Insight Prison Project offers a certified violence prevention class, critical thinking courses, professional crisis-intervention training, a therapeutic artistic ensemble, and pre-parole training. Maranatha Christian Center – Prison and Jail Ministry | MCC’s Jail & Prison Ministry is a team of men and women gathered by God for the purpose of sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ to incarcerated men, women & children. Contact any of the Jail & Prison Ministry coordinators at MCC. Training by CIC Ministries required. Serves both Santa Clara County and San Quentin. Based in San Jose. Prison University Project | The Prison University Project runs its courses out of San Quentin State Prison, which is a public prison for men in Marin County, California. It is known as a progressive prison, particularly because of the many volunteer-based programs that run within its gates—among which, ours is the largest. Students enrolled in our courses are from the general population, which is Level II, or medium security. They attend class on the prison grounds. Based in San Quentin.
